1 作长老的写信给亲爱的该犹，就是我在真理中所爱的。
1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2 亲爱的兄弟啊，我莫甚於愿你兴盛，身体健壮，正如你的元魂兴盛一样。
2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 有弟兄来证明你心里存的真理，正如你按真理而行，我就甚喜乐。
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
4 我听见我的儿女们按真理而行，我的喜乐就没有比这个大的。
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
5 亲爱的兄弟啊，凡你向弟兄和客旅所行的都是忠心的，
5 Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers;
6 他们在教会面前证明了你的爱；你若依着敬虔的样式帮助他们往前行，这就好了。
6 Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
7 因为他们是为他的名出外，对於外邦人一无所取。
7 Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.
8 所以我们应该接待这样的人，叫我们与他们一同为真理作工。
8 We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.
9 我曾写信给教会；但那在教会中好为首的丢特腓不接待我们。
9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
10 所以我若去，我必回想他所行的事，就是他用恶言妄论我们。还不以此为足，他自己不接待弟兄，有人愿意接待，他也禁止，并且将接待弟兄的人赶出教会。
10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
11 亲爱的兄弟啊，不要效法恶，只要效法善。行善的属乎 神；行恶的未曾见过 神。
11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
12 低米丢行善，为众人所称赞，又为真理所称许；就是我们也给他作见证，你们也知道我们的见证是真的。
12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
13 我原有许多事要写给你，却不愿意用笔墨写给你，
13 I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:
14 但我信我会快快的见你，我们就当面谈论。愿你平安。我们众位朋友都问你安。请你替我按着姓名问众位朋友安。
14 But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.
