O God of knowledge, giver of wisdom, who brings to light the deep things from darkness, and gives word with great power to those who preach the gospel. Out of Your goodness, You called upon Paul, who was for some time a persecutor, to be a chosen vessel; and was pleased that he became a chosen apostle and preacher of the gospel of Your kingdom. O Christ our God, we ask You now, O You the good and Philanthropic One, bestow upon us and upon all Your people a clear mind, and a pure understanding to learn and understand how profitable are Your holy teachings which are read to us now through him. And as he followed Your example, O Prince of life, so make us to be like him in deed and in faith, that we may glorify Your holy name, and ever glory in Your cross.

O God, who in Your unspeakable love toward mankind, has sent Your only begotten Son into the world to bring back the lost sheep unto Him, we ask You, O our Lord, do not turn us back when we lay our hands on this awesome and bloodless sacrifice. For we do not lean on our righteousness, but on Your mercy, whereby You gave life to our race. We ask and entreat Your goodness, O Lover of Mankind, that this mystery You have appointed for our salvation may not be a condemnation unto us nor unto Your people, but a washing away of our sins; forgiveness of our negligence; and glory and honour to Your holy name, O Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages.
